Scavenga Hunt

I really liked this activity and all of the other ones we did this year. It was almost 2 months ago but I still remember why I chose to find the medicines I did.

I know that I’m not alone when I say that one of my ultimate goals is to just be happy. Actually almost everyone says that, but that’s why it was important to find joy. Not only is that my sister’s name, but I try to enjoy the things I do. I’ve always made happiness a priority of mine and to surround myself by happy people.

This is almost directly related to humor. I’m not too funny, but that’s probably the best quality that I look for in people. I love to laugh which is why most of my friends are really funny. I just think it’s healthy to get a good laugh in.

I babysit A LOT and my sister Joy is only 5-years-old, therefore I’m around little kids quite often. I wouldn’t babysit as much as I do if I didn’t like it but it can be frustrating and stressful. That’s why I looked for patience. I could always be more patient with my family and with little kids. It can’t hurt.

Sometimes I’m too cautious or afraid to take risks. I tend to stay on the safe side. While there’s nothing wrong with that, I definitely need to be more courageous. I’ve always been one to think things over again and again before I do anything. Sometimes I need to get the courage up, and just do it.

It sounds lame but I’ve always tried to give more than I receive. The key word there was tried. This obviously doesn’t always happen but I think it’s a good way to try to live. Selflessness is important, no matter who you are.

The End

It’s Sunday and I haven’t even attempted to study for finals. I’ve been babysitting all weekend so I really haven’t had any time. Tonight we watched the season finale of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. I’ve only seen the show a couple times but tonight’s episode was in Indianapolis which was cool. I can’t believe that junior year is almost over. It went by really fast. It’s crazy to think that we’ll be graduating in one year!

Ningers

I like Ning. It was a lot easier to catch onto than edublogs because it’s so similar to facebook. Technically, it is more complicated that edublogs but we’re familiar with the format. Don’t get me wrong though, I’m a fan of edublogs, too. I think it might be simpler for next years students to only have one blogging site, regardless of which one it is. As long as there aren’t too many requirements on both websites though, they should be ok. Alright, I didn’t really make any sense but the bell just rang.

School and Easter

Last week was the first week back from sbeezy ‘09 and it wasn’t all that bad. Probably because I only went to 3 days of it. We were traveling on Monday and no school on Friday! Which makes this 5-day week pretty brutal. Yesterday was Easter but I slept from 3pm-9pm. Solid nap. At church, the usher asked my mom, my sister, and I if we would take the gifts to the alter and I was so mad that my mom said yes. It was probably really wrong of me to be angry in church. I had no idea what I was doing but it wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought. Although now that I think about, I wouldn’t even know if I messed up.

New York

I wrote a blog before we left for New York and I didn’t know what to expect. It ended up being really cool! I think I learned a lot, too. Hopefully we came up with some good ideas for next year’s yearbook. Of course we’ll have to talk it over with the rest of the class and brainstorm, but it was good to see some examples of what other yearbooks look like. I didn’t realize there was such a “yearbook community”. It was so crazy seeing high school students from EVERYWHERE at the same conference. I’m not sure yet that I want to major in journalism but I’m really glad I went. We saw Mary Poppins on Wednesday night and the set was amazing. Then Papa Burg set it up for us to meet some of the cast and go backstage which was really nice of him. We went to Columbia all 3 days and the long subway ride was worth it. Hopefully our senior yearbook will be good!

Dance marathon

Dance Marathon was last night and it was awesome. I had no idea what we were gonna do but it ended up being really fun. We couldn’t sit for 6 hours but we were learning a dance most of the time so it didn’t matter. I think I heard “FTK” (For The Kids) 200 times last night. The seniors did a good job of organizing the event and keeping us interested; It wasn’t ever boring. I’m excited for next year’s.

Sched

I just scheduled my classes for Senior year and I feel like I have to know exactly what I want to major in and what I want to be. Here’s the final decision: AP English, Yearbook, PreCalc, BioTech, Sports Psych, AP Econ/Gov, Comparative Gov, Eastern Relig, and Theater. Just in case all of you were wondering. I’m just a little worried that I should be keeping some room for Spanish in there. The fact is though, I just don’t get Spanish. Hopefully that won’t backfire.

Yearbook

Friday was our last deadline for Yearbook all year. I’m kind of relieved but now I have no idea what we’re gonna do in class. The yearbook comes out at the end of this year so we had to hurry to get all of our final spreads into the publishers by Friday. On Wednesday, Jenny, Aly, Papa Burg, Ms. Johnson (the counselor), and I are going to NYC for a conference at Columbia. I’m excited but I don’t really have any idea what it’s about. I guess we’ll find out. After we get back on Friday there’s only one more week until s-beezy!

Babysitting (again)

I’m realizing that I’ve already blogged about babysitting before, but I’ve spent so much time doing it in the past year (and weekend) that I figured it deserved two posts. There are about 7 or 8 families that I babysit for on a fairly regular basis. This makes it really hard to find a weekend entirely free of babysitting. Don’t get me wrong though, I don’t mind it (most of the time). I’ve been noticing that the more I babysit for certain families, the harder it is for me to say no when they ask for a sitter. It’s almost like I’ve developed an allegiance to them and I don’t want to let them down? At my own cost, I end up babysitting all the time. I should mention that it is good money for a “job” and I like the families I sit for.

J-Beezy and Chuck E. Cheese

Tuesday was my sister J-Beezy’s 5th birthday. I’ve never seen anyone (emphasis on anyone) more excited for their birthday. She woke up at 4 in the morning and yelled “I’m 5!” and then went right back to sleep. My mom made me and my other sister rush home right after school so that we could go to Bounce U for her birthday party. When we got there it was closed and all of the lights were turned off. It was really bizarre because my mom called on Monday night and they told her that they would be open. Anyways, Joy looked like she was about to cry but she held it in. We had to improvise and decided to go to Chuck E. Cheese at the last minute. I hadn’t been there in so long but it was sweet. It was even bigger than I remembered and the pizza was better. I couldn’t really fit in the jungle gym thing but the arcade games were fun. Most importantly, I think Joy had a good birthday.
